2021 Winner Announced

Congratulations to Emma Blythman for her stunning image ‘Fog wrapping the rock‘ at Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park!

Emma’s winning image captures a beautiful moment at Uluru after a rare rainstorm. 


The National Parks Conservation Trust held a photography competition in 2021. Participants posted eligible photos they had taken in Commonwealth National Parks accompanied by the hashtag #ozparkspics. Monthly winners were announced and the overall winner awarded by public vote via social media. Voting took place over two weeks from 6 – 17 December 2021.

All the monthly winners from the competition are shown below.  

The winner was the photographer whose image received the most votes.

Prize

The photo that received the most ‘likes’ (as voted on social media) has won $750 cash and a unique conservation experience at the park of their choice as featured in the competition (for 2 people, courtesy of our partner, Parks Australia).

How to participate

  • Share your images on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram
  • Tag your photos taken at the National Parks with #OzParksPics
  • Include the location and a short story about why you are sharing

Our team will regularly review pics posted with #OzParksPics, and if the pic meets the terms and conditions below, will share it on the Parks Trusts social media platforms.

Once we share your pic, you’re entered in the competition.

Terms and Conditions

  • The competition is open to all amateur photographers, wherever you live. Your classified as an ‘amateur’ if you don’t get paid to take photographs.

  • So we can celebrate 2021 ‘moved by nature’ moments, please limit pics to those taken between March to November 2021.

  • You can enter as many times as you like.

  • Images must be the original and exclusive work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any third party.

  • By tagging #OzParksPics you give permission for us to share your pics and content, crediting your handle. Entrants retain copyright of all submitted pics but, as a condition of entry, you grant the NPCT free, global, non-exclusive licence to use, with full acknowledgment, your images in their printed and online publications and promotional material.

  • Please do not include people in your pics. Any pics with people will not be shared or included in the competition – as we do not want to share images of people without their permission.

  • Please do not enter restricted areas or take actions that pose a risk to you or others. The NPCT will not be held responsible for any entrant taking a photo in circumstances that pose a risk of personal injury or legal implications.

  • The Parks Trust reserves the right to not share pics with #OzParksPics, and thereby exclude the pic from the competition, if considered inappropriate.

  • Entries will be judged by a popular vote on social media channels Facebook and Twitter.

  • We will contact you via social media if you are voted the most liked photo for the month. – To feature on our website as the monthly finalist you must send us a jpeg file of at least 1 Mb and no more than 4 Mb to [email protected]

  • All monthly winners will receive NPCT certificates of achievement.

  • Competition closes 30 November 2021, with the winner announced in January 2022.

  • The winner will receive $750 cash and a unique conservation experience at the park of their choice featured in the competition (for 2 people, courtesy of our partner, Parks Australia).

    • The winner will be contacted by the Parks Trust to agree timing of the conservation experience. This needs to be booked in 2022 and expires on 31 December 2022. Travel costs to the park for the conservation experience are not included.
  • The NPCT will make reasonable efforts to conduct the competition as outlined but will not be liable for any loss in the event the competition is rescheduled, modified or cancelled.
