Christmas Island is the only place in the world where the Christmas Island Frigatebird breeds.
The Christmas Island Frigatebird forages in waters impacted by marine debris therefore ingestion of plastics is a regular risk as well as being vulnerable to the introduction of new diseases, cyclones and other major weather events.
