The ‘golden morph’ of the White-tailed tropic bird is known as the golden bosun.
Its gold-tinged feathers have earned it its local name – the golden bosun.
The golden bosun’s only known breeding location is Christmas Island. It roosts and forages over the Indian Ocean.
There are less than 10,000 left of this precious bird and The Golden Bosun is a local icon endemic to Christmas Island, it’s listed as endangered.
Supporters of this project helped this species survive and thrive by contributing to bird feed, veterinary care, supplies at the rehab centre and vital habitat conservation.
